Course description

Overview: Students’ will enhance their ability to design efficient tables and incorporate some of the program’s advanced features in their use of Access objects.

Prerequisites: Access 2.0: Level 2 or equivalent knowledge. Students should be familiar with such terms as computer memory, data files, and program files. Students should also be familiar with the components that make up the PC, including input, output, and storage devices. Knowledge of the Windows environment is assumed.

Benefits: Students will learn how to create efficient databases by using normalization rules and table relationships. Students will also learn how to customize queries, forms, and reports by using functions, properties, and macros.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Normalize sample tables by identifying common data problems.
Determine relationship types and establish referential integrity between two tables.
Join tables, examine editing limitations when joining tables, and create a crosstab query.
Investigate the format function, review the use and structure of a macro and explore event properties by using the Access Help system.
Customize forms by using properties, functions Control Wizards, and the Table Order dialog box.
Provide for user interaction and automate tasks using macros.
Enhance the design of a report and dynamically evaluate and highlight data by using macros in reports.
